Ayla Pearl Randall is 9 months old today! And I think there is a lesson to be learned in the midst of our celebration.
Somewhere along the way, we seem to forget the importance of milestones. We celebrate baby birthdays monthly. New romantic relationships are also celebrated monthly. But as years go by, our celebrations spread further apart.
We win big wars by winning little battles. Feeling the thrill of victory often is essential to keep energy and enthusiasm high for the journey to success.
Be sure to set baby goals and milestones inside of your bigger, long range goals so you never get too far away from the feeling of accomplishment!
“I’m a greater believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it.” – Thomas Jefferson
Too often, we wait poised for our breakthrough to fall from the sky. We sincerely hope that our ticket has the winning number. We believe our circumstances are going to work themselves out. Listen, I am a huge believer in positive thinking, but too much thinking with too little doing will just leave you with a lot on your mind.
Here are three simple actions that will help you start moving to your goals TODAY!
Verbally speak out your situation. Speak out exactly where you are – the good, the bad, and the ugly. You can’t move on until you become brutally honest with where you are. The first step in changing is to truly identify how bad change is needed. Stir up enough frustration, anger, hunger, and desire to DO something about your situation.
Next, channel that energy into action! Do something today that gets your once inch, one foot, or hopefully one mile away from your current predicament. Don’t be consumed by how far you have to go; be focused on moving forward TODAY. Confront the current day, and you’ll find that consecutive days of positive action lead to positive change. It has been said that 21 days of consecutive activity (good or bad) creates a habit. Use that law to your favor. It doesn’t have to be a major change; but the fact that you have committed yourself in some capacity to change is a HUGE mental victory. And once you’ve tasted victory, your on your way to bigger wins!
The journey is not designed to travel alone. In order to accomplish major victories, you will need to align and associate with some other people. Identify people who are going where you want to go. Hang around people who are striving for the same things in life you are. You will need each other to go the distance. Having people around you that will keep you accountable, encourage you when your down, push you when you’re tired, and love you when you’re hurt is essential.
Confessing + Confronting + Connecting = Creating LUCK in your life!
Great words from a great man who wrote a great book.
If you haven’t read, “The Dream Giver” by Bruce Wilkinson, I strongly recommend you do!
